Pasta with Pesto, Sundried Tomatoes and Mushrooms

Sundried tomatoes in oil (optional)
1 medium onion, small dice
2 cloves garlic, smashed & chopped
pinch crushed red chili pepper
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup grated parmesan
12 ounces fresh pasta-linguini, fettuccine or ravioli
Mushrooms, sliced and sautéed in butter

Optional protein: sliced chicken, salmon
Serve with asparagus, broccoli...
